Tom Bendtsen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He received degrees from Camosun College in Victoria, BC, and the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto and his MFA from State University of New York at Buffalo. He has shown his book works at the Koffler Gallery, Toronto, Hamilton Artists Inc., Hamilton and at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge, Alberta and the Albright Knox Gallery's Western New York Biennial. He offers about his practice: “In all my work a balance is at odds. Initially contact reveals a conflict between opposing forces; nature to nurture, confidence to desperation, strength to fragility, toxicity to purity and contrasts of scale. This binary conflict is complicated by hidden, lateral lines of meaning, subtle complications that take the meaning of a work in unexpected directions.”
