Rachelle Viader Knowles is an artist, researcher and educator. Her most recent works explore text and language, translocality, and artistic practices/methods developed through participation, collaboration and networks. Her creative projects have been exhibited, performed, screened and played across Canada and internationally. A regular participant in artists residencies, she was the recipient of the Canada Council Paris Studio in 2009, and is an active member of the international advisory board for the Art Centre of Social Studies based in Yerevan, Armenia. Knowles grew up in Cardiff, Wales and studied at Cardiff College of Art and the University of Wales College Newport, completing her MFA at the University of Windsor in Canada. She participated in the Media Arts Histories programme at Danube University in Krems, Austria, and is currently engaged in practice-based research through the Transart Institute/Plymouth University, UK. She joined the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Regina in 2002. She teaches intermedia art practices at the undergraduate and graduate levels and is currently Head of Visual Arts.
