NOVEMBER 30 TO DECEMBER 17, 2022
Opening Party: Thursday, December 1| 6-8pm
The Red Head Gallery is pleased to present Get Noticed, our biennial exhibition of visual artists selected by Toronto gallerists noted for actively raising the bar for Canada’s commercial art world. Artists for the 2022 edition have been selected by James Hewitt and Kyle Matuzewiski. The exhibition will be on view at the Red Head Gallery from November 30 to December 17, 2022.
JAMES HEWITT is the Founder and Director of The Run Gallery, that has featured art and objects by mostly local artists and makers since its inception in August 2020.
KYLE MATUZEWISKI is the Co-Director of Bau-Xi Gallery and manages both the 340 and 350 Dundas Street West locations in Toronto.
Curatorial Statement:
”As we reflected upon the submissions for this years’ edition of ‘Get Noticed’, our immediate reaction was one of amazement - not only by the quality, but also by the sheer variety of work put forth. This microcosm a clear embodiment of the diversity in which artists are approaching their practices in today’s age. Craft to be considered and valued as Art; not simply as artisan in concept and purpose. Works on paper having a high level of refinement; not only as preparation. Video and sculpture being used to explore a multitude of ideas; with unconventional materials and approaches, and seamlessly integrated into a space. Even the more steadfast practice of painting is witnessing a sea change in terms of its’ democratization; thus allowing a greater freedom of expression. We hope that you enjoy this curation, and feel that it embodies the current state Art in today’s age.” - Get Noticed 2022 Jurors
