Bio
Kale Vandenbroek is an artist based in Toronto, Ontario. His work explores the place of the homosexual man in contemporary social constructs. Through autobiographical imagery, the artist portrays his own difficulties with finding his place. Making this work offers Kale a way to process the experience. His likeness interacts with symbolic objects from the world around him, some real and some imagined.
Artist Statement
In 2014, Kale completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Alberta College of Art + Design in Calgary. Since then, his work has shown in Japan, China, Finland, and within Canada, with a piece in the collection at the Tama Art University in Tokyo. Kale has held solo exhibitions at Latitude 53 Gallery in Edmonton and Northern Contemporary Gallery in Toronto.
