Artist Statement
My paintings consist of scenes created from multiple landscapes that come together to evoke a specific mood or inexplicable feeling. I have always had a hard time putting how I feel into words, but sometimes a location or a time of day can at least vaguely communicate the feeling to the outside world. My paintings are nostalgic and familiar, but at the same time, impossible and unattainable, as they consist of multiple source images that once combined, create a fantasy land. Within each painting are pockets of everyday scenery that may be glimpsed through a car window or while walking to work. The paintings are my attempt to express my deep appreciation for the natural world and the time I spend within it, and to capture the feelings that stir within me while spending time outside.
