Kartz Ucci’s multidisciplinary practice is informed by language theory and philosophy. Especially concerned with notions of reproducibility and appropriation, she endeavors to reinterpret existing texts, musical pieces, and films by adopting various conceptual strategies, which then give direction to the form and content of her productions. She has been teaching at the University of Oregon since 2004; prior engagements include York University, McMaster University and Ryerson University in Canada. Her work has been exhibited in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, as well as being included in the Portland 2010 Biennial organized by Disjecta (Portland) with solo exhibitions in 2010 at Linfield Gallery (McMinnville), Optica Gallery (Montreal) and the Archer Gallery (Vancouver).
