Teri Donovan is a Canadian artist based in Toronto. She graduated from York University, and The University of Toronto, and has studied at the Ontario College of Art, The Toronto School of Art, George Brown College, and The Baltimore Institute College of Art in Maryland.

In 2008, she was featured in Carte Blanche Vol. 2: Painting, a survey of contemporary painting in Canada.

Her practice incorporates a variety of drawing and painting media and is concerned with those aspects of life located in the spaces between what is immediately apparent and what is underlying and contradictory.

Her recent work focuses on context, time, and memory, and the foundational roles that past, present, and future play in determining selfhood. Edmund Husserl expressed this succinctly in his statement, we are " ….. always in the present and still in the past, and already in the future." Indeed, it is difficult if not impossible to know who one is without the ability to remember who one was five minutes ago, or imagine who one hopes to be tomorrow.

Donovan's mixed media pieces combine abstract elements, wallpaper imagery, and collage elements as metaphorical markers of time. These are woven over, under, and through central figures and each other, suggesting an  interdependence between the tenses as well as the necessity of chronology in the formation of self.
