The Red Head Gallery is pleased to present Giving Notice, an exhibition by artist Firth MacMillan. Last January, Firth MacMillan relocated to Toronto from New York City. In this exhibition, she reinterprets pointed, yet everyday, moments from her life in New York. Her three dimensional drawings of razor wire in Bushwick, and sculptural representations of shadows in Central Park, are meditations on the edge between image and object, representation and abstraction, form and formlessness.

Firth MacMillan is a visual artist living and working in Toronto. Her art practice is a process-based, physical exploration of ideas, images and materials. She has exhibited at CRG Gallery, Lyons Wier Gallery and Charles Cowles Gallery in New York and at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, The Gardiner Museum, and San Bao International in China.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska -Lincoln (MFA) and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (BFA), Firth is the recipient of numerous awards including an Ontario Arts Council grant, Hixson-Lied fellowships and a Canada Council grant.
